AppleがWWDC 2018で「2018 Platforms State of the Union」セッションを行い、macOS Mojaveが32ビットアプリをサポートする最後のmacOSになると明らかにしている。 2019年には、32ビットのQuickTime framework、Java 1.6 Apple framework、Carbon HLBTなどが廃止されるそうだ。 macOS Mojaveに搭載されるNews Appや株価 Appなど、macOSアプリの「AppKit」と、iOSアプリの「UIKit」の下を支えるMedia、Core OS、Core Servicesを共通化させることで、2つのプラットフォーム開発を容易にする「New Developer Framework for Mac Apps」を紹介した。
